The Witcher (basically) confirmed for season 3
When the world wasn’t fighting a pandemic and half the world wasn’t on fire while the other half was flooded, basically the pre-2020 era, Netflix had announced the second season of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill as Gerald, in 2019 even before the release of the first season. It was clear that Netflix loved the show enough to trust it with two seasons even before observing the audience’s reaction to the first one.
But even prior to that announcement, the industry insiders have been claiming of rumours of Netflix generously granting season2 and 3, both seasons of The Witcher to Lauren Hissrich and Co. There is no concrete proof if season 3 of The Witcher will be happening at all or not, but it seems it is more possible than not. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is a writer and producer who have worked in many well known productions like The Umbrella Academy, The Defenders, Daredevil, The West Wing, Drive, and many other productions that are absolutely loved by their huge fan bases. She is one of the producers of The Witcher and looking at how the show managed to bag three seasons before the release of even one, it seems like she’s doing a perfect job as one.
An announcement has been made by the Writers Guild of America that The Witcher Season 3 is one of the newest additions in its database. Which, believe us, is a great news!
The Writers Guild of America is a labour union that represents a number of members that write content for news, movies, TV and all digital media.
The needle hangs towards the positive side when it come to the making of season 3 of The Witcher and it will stick to the far side once Netflix officially announces that it is granting the show a third season. As soon as Netflix announces it, it’ll be something to celebrate among the fan base of the show filling the online forums with rejoices. We hope the fans get this good news as soon as possible.
Observing the success of season 1 of the show, the doubts were close to nil about the granting of season three. The hype of the show among the fans was enormous and looking at how Netflix had granted the show runners multiple seasons before even releasing one, it is evident that Netflix foresaw the huge success of the show and gave the show a long lasting bear hug. As the time goes, the possibility of making of the third season is getting clearer.
The shooting of season 2 was paused due to the global pandemic and was very recently resumed. To know more about the resuming of the production of season 2, read here (hyperlink). Even though the pause might look like a bad thing for the show runners, the producers reassured the fans that it was a good thing for the crew and that they can work even better after the pause or, for some, a break as not everything will be crammed up and the schedule can be better suited for everyone keeping the whole team safe and the work going. The Witcher Season 2 will not be released before the second half of 2021 or might take even longer than that to see the daylight. Looking at that, the fans will be blessed with season 3 only at the end of 2022 or during 2023, which is the ideal timing of those releases. If the pandemic allows then these releases will be made on time.
Whenever it is, we are sure it will be a delight for the fans to get more concrete news about the season 3 and the release of season 2 of The Witcher.
