The Witcher Season 2 is back on set; the production resumes after a short break due to COVID scare
It’s a rollercoaster for The Witcher fans all over the world. On one hand it’s the pandemic taking control over everyone’s lives and on the other hand, it’s the desire to have the next season of our favorite TV shows as soon as possible. Well, both happening together is possible, but it can get a little messy.
Last week we told you that the shooting of The Witcher season 2 had been halted again (hyperlink) because of 4 corona cases in the production crew. Even though the main cast was not one of the infected people, it was still a risk for everyone on the set.
Netflix prepared for isolated COVID testing for each and every crew member to ensure safety for everyone. Since COVID is such a contagious virus, you just cannot be too cautious with it.
This was the second time that the production had to be halted. The first time was when the virus was just starting to spread and taking the world by a storm. After about five months worth of break, the production restarted and, as you already know, it was halted again for the same reason. This break was shorter, but a break nonetheless.
You will be pleased to know that the production of The Witcher season 2 is already back to work. The fan base of the show will be really excited to know that the release date of the show will be more or less unchanged. The anticipation of the season 2 of this show is high among the fans and it just not seems to simmer down.
The fan base has been on a rollercoaster since the production of season 2 started.
First the initial halt, then getting to know that the story has been revised and bettered during the break, then the released of a few teaser pictures of the main characters, Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer, then the halt again, it surely does not look like an easy job to be a fan of this show.
The filming of The Witcher season 2 resumed a couple of nights ago at Arborfield Studios in Reading. They have built a whole witcher town from the ground in the studio. We aren’t sure if any of the main cast members have been present on this set but we know that the new sequence of shots is concentrating on the newly built town. The shoot was in the night time so it is possible that some spooky and dangerous things are being filmed.
It is important to keep everyone safe in the production crew and it is the responsibility of the production itself. Even though people are continuously instructed to be responsible, wear masks and maintain social distancing, the virus, regardless of all the precautions, just finds a way to spread from one person to another and then to several other people.
It was obviously the right decision to halt the shooting of the season 2 as soon as the COVID cases were found amongst the crew members. Hopefully, coming back to shooting this soon is the right decision too.
Before the last halt, we brought to you a video, from the set, of Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra, riding their horses near Frensham Little Pond (hyperlink). The locals have also reported a few wagons and horses in the area. These might not have been used in the filming yet.
After the halt, the shooting of the show near Frensham Little Pond will resume soon. Don’t worry; we won’t let you miss any new information from the production of The Witcher season 2.
The filming of season 2 is expected to end in February of 2021 so Netflix can release the show in summer. Hopefully everything stays on track and goes smoothly henceforth.
Stay tuned and know everything there is to know about the filming of the season 2 of The Witcher.
