One such series that features this trope is the original anime production by Netflix, Revisions.
The story follows sophomore student Daisuke Dojima, who had been kidnapped at a young age, but luckily, he was saved by his four friends along with a strange woman named Milo.
She tells Daisuke that one day he will return the favour by saving his friends, but her prophecy never comes true.
In his hometown of Shibuya, a strange phenomenon occurs wherein Daisuke and his friends are transported 300 years into the future.
Upon arriving, they are greeted with endless woodlands, blocks of ruins, future citizens, and mecha monsters called Revisions.
Daisuke encounters a woman named Melos, who informs them that only he can operate the Revision machinery and save Shibuya.
Can Daisuke save the present by fighting in the future and fulfilling his alienating hero prophecy is the main storyline.
Revisions Season One had it takers despite it not performing good on the streaming platform which raises a question, if there is a possibility of a sequel or not.
