The supernatural genre in anime is massively underrated as it often gets lost in the Shonen superheroes or the fantasy lands of isekai.
One such series was privy to the Spring 2021 slate as the rebooted anime adaption of Hiroyuki Takei hit the small screens.
The plot is set in a world where shamans or beings capable of communicating with the living and dead are invisible to humans.
They take part in a prestigious tournament called the Shaman Fight every five hundred years, whose winner is given the title of the Shaman King.
The Shaman King can summon the Great Spirit and design the world as they please.
The story follows middle schooler Manta Oyamada, who returns home through a shortcut via the cemetery.
While crossing the cemetery, he is called by a lone boy sitting on a tombstone and invites Manta to gaze at them.
Realizing that the boy means them as ghosts and spirits, Manta flees from the spot.
Later, the same boy introduces himself as You, who shows his powers and states he is a Shaman in training.
You also save Manta from a group of thugs by calling the spirit of a six-hundred-year-old samurai Amidamaru.
The two quickly strike a friendship as Manta is determined to fulfill You’s’ dream of becoming the next Shaman King.

What Is The Shaman King Season 2 Release Date?
Shaman King Season One aired from 1st April 2021 to 21st April 202 for 52 episodes.
On 24th October 2023, the show s’ official X account confirmed the renewal of Shaman King Season 2 which will be titled Shaman King Flowers.
Additionally, a key visual for the sequel was shared, and the Shaman King Season 2 release date was revealed as January 2024.

The sequel was supposed to be released in 2023 however, due to the pandemic, the production had to be postponed.
As always, all the episodes will first air in Japan and then will be available for international audiences through streaming platforms.

What Will Shaman King Season 2 Plot?
Shaman King Season One covered the entire original manga and Shaman King Season 2 will begin by adapting the sequel manga, Shaman King Flowers.
16 years after the final Shaman fight in Tokyo 200, the story follows Hana Asakura, who is frustrated as he is unable to use his Shaman powers.
One day he is challenged by Yohane, a member of Asakura brancho who wants to overthrow the main family.
But Hana beats Yohane, which prompts his sister to defend the loss. The siblings almost defeat her, but she is saved by a disciple of her mother, who later introduces as Hana’s fiancé.
After recovering, the disciple reveals that she has been sent to protect Hana from a battle called Flowers of Maize which could be doomsday for the world.
The siblings are forced to join Hana s’ school as a peace treaty is called upon between the two families.
Hanae develops an unexpected friendship with Yohane, but Luca still resents the former and schemes an attack against him.
The once boring life of Hana is over as he is involved in the Flower of Maize, which contests the action of the Shaman King.
The battle involves the leader of a five-member team who will compete, and the winner will be awarded a miracle.
It’s expected the Shaman King Season 2 will cover the entire Shaman King Flowers manga and most likely proceed into Shaman King: The superstar manga.
