Starting her MCU journey with Avengers: Age of Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has come so far. From a rebel to the most powerful superhero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, her character has won so many hearts over the years. Let’s have a look at her journey from the beginning.
The Scarlet Witch’s journey in the MCU so far
She started off as a native of Sokovia who lost her parents at a very young age in the Novi grad bombing. After surviving the bombings with her twin brother Pietro, she develops hatred towards Tony Stark as she believes he is the one who killed her parents.
Though she was born with magical abilities, her powers were amplified when she and her brother joined Hydra, volunteering for experiments to be performed on her with Loki’s sceptre. After that she developed psionic abilities while her brother developed super speed.
When Hydra was destroyed, the Twins joined Ultron to take their revenge on Tony Stark. However, as soon as they realise Ultron’s true intentions they leave his side and join The Avengers in the battle of Sokovia. Unfortunately, her brother dies in that battle and after that she moves to the USA.
After that she joins The Avengers where she forms a connection with Vision. In Avengers Civil war she also sides with Steve which results in her being imprisoned on the raft. But Steve successfully breaks her free from the raft with the rest of the members.
Later on, Wanda and Vision starts a new happy life away from all the chaos in Europe but looks like their happiness was short lived when Thanos is hell bent on possessing all the infinity stones, one of them being wielded by Vision himself.
To save the mind stone from getting in the hands of the bad guys, Wanda and Vision take refugee in Wakanda where all the Avengers assemble and fight against Thanos and The Order to stop him from possessing all the Infinity stones and erasing half of the population of the world. However, they failed to do so which results in the death of Vision and half of the population being erased with Wanda being one of them.
After 5 years, all those who were disappeared as a result of the snap, comes back after Hulk’s blip. As Wanda returns she finds it hard to cope up with all the loss which brings us to the events of WandaVision.
From A Supporting Actor to the Most Powerful Superhero of Marvel Universe
Before the release of WandaVision on Disney plus, Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet witch portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen was just a supporting character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the tables have turned for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch after her incredible performance and the huge success of WandaVision.
With her excellent performance in WandaVision, she made a huge fan base for herself and opened up new opportunities for her character. This journey set her up for bigger things in the future.
Further, she was announced the most powerful superhero in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe by the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige. Also, it was made clear that she can destroy the entire world with her newfound powers if she wants to. So, people you better not get on her bad side.
Where is The Scarlet Witch headed next?
The Scarlet witch will be seen unleashing hell in Marvel’s upcoming movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She’s hell-bent on finding her sons which will result in her causing destruction for the Supreme Sorcerer. But whether she finds her sons and where she goes after that is unknown for now.
With her character being the talk of the town, there has been a lot of theories coming to the surface. Given her history in Marvel Comics as the Mutant daughter of Magneto, Scarlet Witch could be the one giving emergence to the X-men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, a fresh rumour says that Wanda will be joining the agenda of the midnight sons, with the fans favourite crew reportedly getting their own film.
It’s not like this is the first time we are hearing about this and we hope this wouldn’t be the last time either. Well, it might take some time for this to happen as moonlight, Blade, Ghost Rider, Helstrom and Hannibal King are also listed as branches of this line-up and as you know only the first two are confirmed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. That’s why it might take a year or two to see them on the big screen.
No matter who she will be joining, we know one thing for sure that Scarlet Witch will be leaving a huge impact on the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe in the coming years. We can’t wait to have her back on the big screen and watch how she uses her newfound powers. Will she use her powers to their full extent? Whatever happens, we just know that she’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
